Prescott – Caborca Sister Cities Committee
Minutes of the General Meeting
July 7, 2009
Call to Order: Chairman Bev Houston called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. at the Las Fuentes Resort in Prescott. The Pledge to the flag followed.
Attending: 23 members, 2 guests
Minutes: The minutes of the June 11, 2009 General Meeting were approved as read.
Treasurer’s Report: Sam Pool reported a beginning balance of $10,429.74, income of $2,004.59, $695.28 disbursements, with an ending balance of $11,742.37.
President’s Report: Bev Houston welcomed all members and also the two guests, Bobby and Derek D’avisnon. She also gave a thank you to all who helped with the picke sales and Parking Pack.
Committee Reports:
Orphanage:
Sam Pool reported no major changes to the orphanage effort.
Education: Susan Jones and Joanne Tomasi are working on the High School exchange program. They passed around a sign-up sheet for all those interested in helping with activities such as hosting, planning events, etc. The basic idea is for a U.S. to Mexico exchange in March, and Mexico to U.S. exchange in April (for 9 days).
Pickle Posse:
Ray Baldwin reported great success in the picke sales, with a net income of around $800.
Swap Meet:
John Hale reminded members that the swap meet is moved to 2nd St. in Prescott Valley. This is a better location. Income for the month was around $383.00.
Parking Pack: John reported great success in the July 4th, 7:30 – 9:30 parking at the Goodwin Street Pharmacy.
50/50 Raffle:
Joanne Stinstrom reported that about 30% of the membership has responded to the 50/50 raffle. She urged members to get them in ASAP.
Social:
Roy Martinez reported on the events for the Caborca VisitJuly 17 – 20.
He went through the entire schedule naming those who had volunteered for specific tasks.
A detailed schedule of events and information was made available to the membership.
Unfinished Business
Joan Stinstrom encouraged members to get the $ in for the raffle tickets ASAP.
Ann Bryan chairs the committee for the Garage Sale set for Sept 25, 26.
Time: 7:00a.m. – 12:00
Location: 600 E. Gurley St.
Possible addition to the garage sale is to sell pickles and water.
New Business:
The October visit to Caborca is being planned now. We are in the process of securing a bus, Cost is $80.00 for members, $100 for non-members.
Remember, no August general meeting, but a picnic at Goldwater Lake 4:00 p.m. Aug 13th
