Sister City Programs

  • Annual reciprocal home visits are made between citizens of the cities of Caborca and Prescott to promote the international exchange of friendship and culture.
  • Caborcan dancers, singers and young Mariachi bands have performed in Prescott.
  • Instrumental and vocal group from Yavapai College have performed in Caborca.
  • Radio equipment donated by Prescott Rotary was installed in Caborca ambulances.
  • Sister Cities has helped Caborca acquire school buses, ambulances and fire trucks and uniforms.
  • Through Sister City Yavapai Regional Medical Center donated a mammography machine to the citizens of Caborca and surrounding areas.
  • Prescott donated school desks and computers to the students of Caborca.
  • Many other useful pieces of equipment have been donated to Caborca for their charitable programs.
  • Technical assistance and equipment have been provided the Caborca fire and police departments.
  • Scholarship assistance has been provided a number of Caborca students to attend Yavapai College.
  • An award-winning English Immersion Program in Prescott is taught for teachers and students from Caborca.
  • Prescott provides assistance to an orphanage in Caborca.

Our Sister City Heroica Caborca, Mexico

Heroica Caborca is approximately 330 miles from Prescott, about 96 miles south of the U.S.-Mexico border. It is located in a valley floor 940 feet above sea level. Its hot summers and cool winters average out to 72 degrees. The present Caborca is a new city built around 1869 after the surging waters of the Asuncion River almost destroyed the old pueblo in 1867. Membership

Sister City of Prescott welcomes all! We encourage active participation by all members: hosting Caborcan families in your home during their annual weekend visit to Prescott, attendance at meetings, participation in events, serving on a sub-committee or perhaps serving as an officer. A small membership fee of $15 individual / $25 family is charged annually to cover mailings and other expenses. To join please print out the application page and send it along with your check to the address given. Our year runs April 1 through March 31.

KNOWLEDGE OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE IS NOT A REQUIREMENT FOR MEMBERSHIP!

Minutes of the General Meeting
