VISION STATEMENT
To focus community interest in building a better climate toward world understanding by fulfilling the desire of the citizens of the Prescott area to learn about the people of Heroica Caborca, Sonora, Mexico through reciprocal visits and cultural and educational exchange programs.
OUR ASSOCIATION
The national concept of a Sister City Program was launched at the White House in 1956 when President Dwight D. Eisenhower called for personal exchanges between Americans and peoples of other lands. It was intended to be a program wherein the ordinary citizens of different countries could exchange ideas and opinions, and hopefully, become friends.
In 1972, after a trip to Caborca, the Honorable Taylor T. Hicks, Sr., Mayor of the City of Prescott, the City Council, and several other imaginative groups and citizens recognized the opportunity to develop harmonious cultural and educational relationships with our neighbors to the South. Mayor Hicks recognized the similarities between Prescott and Caborca and invited Heroica Caborca, Sonora, Mexico to join Prescott, Arizona in a Sister City affiliation. Prescott is one of more than 200 American cities that have adopted "sisters" around the world.
The Sister City Association of Prescott is a charitable organization sponsored by the citizens and the City of Prescott, AZ, for the international exchange of friendship and culture. Meetings are held monthly at a time and day announced in our quarterly newsletter and the local newspaper.
The Sister City Association of Prescott needs your help, ideas and creativity. To join this important and rewarding effort, simply fill out and return the membership application page. Help prove that world brotherhood is more than words….make it a permanent way of life.
